About Cartier watches
Founded in 1847 Cartier is part of the Swiss luxury goods holding company Richemont. The French company creates watches as well as jewellery. In the first decade, Cartier exclusively produced jewellery, before they started making their world-renowned timepieces. Not only pocket watches and pendulum clocks were manufactured, but also wristwatches for ladies and gentlemen.
The first Cartier watch with a leather strap was launched at the beginning of the 20th century. Then a family owned business, it soon expanded internationally and became the epitome of high quality craftsmanship. In 1997 Cartier became part of the Richemont Group. Until today Cartier’s model Tank is one of the most successful watches of the company.
